Because the Holiday House Tour is the Holiday House Tour & Tasting and each location on the tour will have a bite from their contribution to the Inns of the Gettysburg Area Cookbook. So, we're almost done now and ready to start making our chicken salad. Those ladies really know their stuff and always have yummy smelling things available (along with all the rest of the gorgeous little gifts in their shop!). And to combat the doggie breath we have been relying on our diffuser of Frasir Fir from our friends at True Friends Boutique. If you've met the "Three Stooges of the Gaslight Inn" you know that this is standard operating procedure. We usually decorate with Christmas music (my favorite is an album called "Christmas Kisses") but, the stereo speakers on the fritz, so we had to be satisfied with three little dogs barking, panting and generally acting nuts.
So Becky, Kaylene, Irena, & I have spent the last four days making bows, decorating trees (yes there will be more than one!), hanging garlands, etc. The Holiday House Tour is right around the corner and, as participants this year, we had a lot to get done. All interior hallways, stairways and other pedestrian routes are free of obstructions. Interior hallways and corridors are free of steps or abrupt vertical level changes. We do not provide public restrooms, but there is a handicap accessible bathroom located in The Garden Room.
All food and beverages are brought to our guests at the table. Breakfast is served at the large dining table that wheelchairs can easily roll up to. Our dining room provides a water cooler and mini-fridge available for guest use. The Garden Room is located on the first floor and has level access to the dining room and first-floor parlors. The doorway is wide enough for a wheelchair, and the handle can be opened with one hand. The door closest to the stone wall provides a private entrance to our first-floor handicap accessible room, The Garden Room. Upon entering the front gate, follow the brick pathway past the yellow side porch, under a pergola and around to the brick patio in back. Entrance from the front is through an iron fence and gate. The sidewalk is also accessible from each of the closest municipal parking lots. Guests are also able to follow the alley to the nearest side street and proceed to the public sidewalk and follow to the front of the inn (approximately one city block). A parking diagram or description is available upon request by calling the Inn at (717) 337-9100.įrom the private parking spaces, there is a two-step entrance through the back of the property with a brick-paved walkway on a slight downward slope. There is additional parking available in municipal lots adjacent to or across the street from the inn, which have designated handicap (metered) parking spaces. Two of the spaces are adjacent to an aisle for loading and unloading. The Gaslight Inn offers six private, level parking spots. Off-street parking is available in the alley behind the Inn or in municipal parking lots.
